Scholarship gifts provide camper financial aid, so that children from families who otherwise could not afford it can experience Keewaydin. Donors can support scholarships with both Annual Fund gifts and gifts to endowed scholarship funds.
Annual Scholarship Funds
Annual scholarship funds of the Keewaydin Foundation are used to provide financial assistance to families in need so their son or daughter can have the opportunity to experience the fun and growth of a summer at Keewaydin. These funds are fully expended annually to defray the costs of camper tuition, with individual awards based on the financial needs of each family. There are two annual scholarship funds to which donors can contribute:
The Roy Waters Scholarship Fund supports Keewaydin Temagami campers.
The General Breed Scholarships Fund supports Keewaydin Dunmore and Songadeewin of Keewaydin campers.
Endowed Scholarship Funds
Revenue from endowed funds provides financial assistance to families in need on an annual basis, with the yearly available rate set by the Keewaydin Foundation Board of Directors.
The Waboos Hare Scholarship Fund is Keewaydin's general scholarship endowment fund and supports campers attending any one of Keewaydin's three summer camps. This fund was created in honor of Waboos Hare, the longtime director and co-owner of Keewaydin Dunmore. Waboos passed away in May 2011, and many donors are choosing to honor Waboos' memory by contributing to this fund.
Opportunities to add to or create new endowed scholarships are available. If you are interested in learning more about establishing an endowed scholarship fund, please contact:
